I-26 Widening

Description: Planning, development, and construction is underway on approximately 22.2 miles of I-26 from U.S. 25, near Hendersonville, to I-40/240, south of Asheville.

I-26 ASHEVILLE
Connector

Description: The proposed I-26 Connector is an interstate freeway that would connect I-26 in southwest Asheville to U.S. 19/23/70 in northwest Asheville.

US 19/23 (FUTURE I-26) Widening and Upgrade

Description: NCDOT is resuming environmental and engineering studies for proposed improvements to U.S. 19/23 (Future I-26) from just north of I-240 in Asheville to just south of Stockton Road (Exit 13) near Mars Hill.

LIBERTY ROAD / I-40 Interchange

Description: Planning and development are underway on a proposed project that would involve building an interchange at I-40 and Liberty Road in Candler.  The project would also involve realigning Liberty Road between Smokey Park Highway (U.S. 19/23/N.C. 151) and Monte Vista Road.

RUSS AVENUE
Upgrade

Description: NCDOT is proposing to widen Russ Avenue (U.S. 276) approximately 1.1 miles from Phillips Road to North Main Street (U.S. 23 Business) in Waynesville. The proposal also includes providing access for bicyclists and pedestrians with bike lanes and sidewalks.

AMBOY/MEADOW ROAD
Upgrade

Description: Planning and development are underway on a proposed project to widen approximately 2.6 miles of Amboy and Meadow roads in Asheville to a multi-lane roadway between I-240 and N.C. 81 (Biltmore Avenue).  The project would also include the addition of a bridge over the French Broad River.

SWEETEN CREEK ROAD
Upgrade

Description: Planning and development are underway to widen a 5.4-mile stretch of Sweeten Creek Road (U.S. 25A) in Asheville from two lanes to a four–lane divided roadway from Hendersonville Road (U.S. 25) to Rock Hill Road.
