This plan will cover Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania Counties. The plan will provide counties with detailed information about crash and safety histories and provide strategies and countermeasures as we strive for safer roadways for all users. Check out our one pager HERE!

The Final Safe Streets for WNC Plan is Available!
The final Safe Streets for WNC Safety Action Plan is available! The SSWNC Safety Action Plan kicked off in early 2024 and was adopted by the MPO Board on August 21st, 2025. Project Story Map

Safety Plan ArcGIS Online Map
The project team developed a High Injury Network Map along with supporting data layers that can be viewed on ArcGIS online above. How to use the data and a data dictionary can be found below. We are currently working on a way to share the file geodatabase and create a downloadable dataset. Please contact MPO staff with any questions about the data.
